The story of Ducca begins with two famous port cities and their love affair with the water. With one built atop it (Venice), the other surrounded by it (San Francisco)—Ducca combines the rich dining heritage of Venice with San Francisco’s relaxed yet refined elegance. The result is an “urban Venetian mecca” in the heart of San Francisco. The restaurant pays tribute to its inspiration of the Venetian supreme ruler (a doge or duca) with translucent silk-screened partitions of a doge and his wife separating the lounge and the dining room. The eye-catching copper-dipped forks seen at each table, pay homage to the Venetians who were the first Europeans to use the fork as well as the first to consider both the order of courses and the relationship of the dishes served. By day, Ducca’s airy space with casual seating spills into an al fresco dining terrace. By night, the outdoor terrace becomes a lounge with communal tables and a fire pit to keep guests warm. Accessible from Third Street as well as the Westin hotel lobby, you can choose from three distinct areas: the dramatic rotunda of the lounge and bar, the warmth of the sweeping main dining room and festive al fresco terrace. |
